Visit to the farm
8th Feb 2018
P1/2 visited Mr Lyttle's farm today. We learnt how leeks are grown from tiny seeds to how they end in up in the supermarkets. Mrs Lyttle talked about all the different jobs involved in growing leeks; selling the uniforms, driving the tractors, harvesting the crops, cleaning the leeks and packaging them. We got to visit the pack house and see the men at work. Then, Mrs Lyttle made us leek and potato soup to try. We enjoyed it with some bread. We even got leeks and the recipe for the soup to take home.
